The Registre du Commerce et des Sociétés does not issue Certificates of Good Standing. Instead, they provide an official extract, known as L’extrait Kbis, which summarizes the current information. This document serves as the official and legal proof of a company’s existence in France, offering certified company information.

It is best practise to confirm with the authority that requires the document they will accept the certified extract.

France Apostille Certificate

A French company extract, commonly known as a Kbis extract, may require an apostille when it is intended for use in another country that is a party to the Hague Apostille Convention. The apostille certifies the authenticity of the signature, seal, or stamp on the official document, allowing it to be recognized abroad without further legalization. In France, apostilles are issued by the competent Court of Appeal (Cour d’Appel) for eligible public documents. Once apostilled, the company extract can be used internationally for purposes such as opening bank accounts, establishing subsidiaries, participating in tenders, conducting due diligence, or completing regulatory and corporate compliance requirements in foreign jurisdictions.

Validate Registry Document

The Company Extract can be validated online. To confirm the authenticity of a Certificate of Good Standing, simply enter the authorization code on the Registre du Commerce et des Sociétés website.
