Accounting and Financial Statements

Annual financial statements must be prepared and filed, available for public inspection on request. Financial statements must be filed within 8 months following the end of the accounting year.

Currency and Language

Accounting books must be kept in Icelandic, Danish or English.

Accounts may be in any currency, however, prior approval from the Internal Revenue Directorate is required.

General Meetings

It is compulsory to hold an annual general meeting no later than 8 months following the end of the financial year.

Annual Return

Companies registered in Iceland are required to file annual returns. This document gives general company information such as share capital, registered address and the company directors' details.
